How I keep up with AI - podcast edition
How do I keep up with the latest AI news? I'm a big podcast listener and these are the four that I turn to for technology and AI developments.
This week has been a hectic one at Day Job so I didn't have a chance to write. Instead, I'm sharing how I keep up with the latest AI developments.
I'm a big podcast listener and these are the four that I turn to for technology and AI. I consume podcasts the old fashion way (Pocket Casts is my app of choice) but YouTube is the game for podcasts nowadays so I'm sharing their YouTube channels below. If you also prefer to listen, search for them on your podcast app of choice.
Decoder
The blurb: Decoder is a show from The Verge about big ideas — and other problems. Verge editor-in-chief Nilay Patel talks to a diverse cast of innovators and policymakers at the frontiers of business and technology to reveal how they’re navigating an ever-changing landscape, what keeps them up at night, and what it all means for our shared future.
Why I listen: Patel is a sharp interviewer who is not afraid to ask the hard questions, and will "go into the weeds" to unpack an issue at length. Besides tech and AI, I learn a lot about business and management.
I also listen to its sister podcast The Vergecast.
Hard Fork
The blurb: “Hard Fork” is a show about the future that’s already here. Each week, journalists Kevin Roose and Casey Newton explore and make sense of the latest in the rapidly changing world of tech.
Why I listen:
(1) Roose and Newton have great chemistry and their show is highly entertaining. I always have a good time when I listen.
(2) They cover a wild range of topics in technology and AI from different angles. I particularly enjoy segments when they asked their listeners to share their personal experiences with technology.
This Day in AI
The blurb: Join Michael and Chris Sharkey, two proudly average tech enthusiasts, as they stumble through the world of artificial intelligence with all the grace of a robot learning to dance. This (sometimes weekly*) podcast delivers an hour-long conversation about their thoroughly middle-of-the-road adventures with AI.
No PhDs. No Silicon Valley insights. Just two guys with enough technical knowledge to be dangerous, sharing their unexceptional yet entertaining experiences with AI tools and technology.
Why I listen: The Sharkey brothers are hands on with the latest AI models and tools, so they know what they're talking about. They have a way of explaining their use of AI so even a non-techie like myself can understand, and they're funny to boot. Bonus points for Aussie content.
How do you keep up with AI?
Until next week.
